Do you ever forget to notice little things in your life that are trivial, but very much a day to day thing?
For example, at work, I go to the bathroom 2 or 3 times a day, but I almost always go to the same stall. It’s like a comfort thing. I go to the handicapped stall cause I figure more people don’t use that one cause it is for handicapped people. Ok, I set myself up for that one, I know, I know, but think about it.
Other things that we don’t really notice is our commute. I drive 50 minutes to and from work and it is almost like background music to my day. I pass a few towns, a few repent for your sins signs, two McDonalds and some places I will never actually set foot in. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to actually enter the places I stop (the only time I usually stop is for fast food or the gas station). I am in too much of a hurry to get home that stopping at these places would only be a chunk of time taken away from actually being at home.
It’s weird how we get so comfortable in our daily lives and how when we visit somewhere new how everything around us is so foreign. I think that is exciting. I don’t know how people can sometimes go their whole life living in the same place or driving to the same place or even using the same toilet stall (ha). That would be too boringly familiar.
My friend Susan told me about this site where you can put your designs on T-shirts and then this company will print it for random people all over the place who pick out your design. It is www.cafepress.com. Lick my Lasagna t-shirt, anyone? Can’t take credit for that one, gotta give it to my boy Steve.
