Self Portrait Challenge – Pop Art #2

Here it is. I spent an hour or so on it. I really wanted a lichtensteinesque look this week, rather than the typical andy warholish look. I didn’t really want to add a thought bubble, though. Too tired for that one.

Giving my trade secrets away, but this is a Popart site that kinda shows you how to get this look (but I didn’t follow it exactly). Still cool.

My day in a nutshell: Got to work on time :)…got a new magazine called Adorn at work that has a lot of great, hip, cool, young craft ideas (and it’s compact in size), got stamps (Amber alert – they are quite pretty), went to eat Mexican at La Guadalajara in Stanford. I always get the Speedy Gonzalas (beans, enchilada, and taco). It’s my favorite and I down about 4 diet cokes to go with it (bad, I know). Went to Wal-mart, didn’t buy anything and when I asked for $8 in quarters, the woman told me I could only get amounts in $10. Lame, huh? How’s a crafty girl supposed to do laundry? Actually, I later ended up getting my $8 (at the gas station, which happened to be playing Sheryl Crowe’s “All I wanna do”), but I got so involved in my self-portrait that I didn’t end up doing laundry. Go figure.

Found a new scrapping web site…Scrapbook Playground. Looks pretty cool. Posted some layouts to it. There are having some challenge on there, so I am participating in it. To date, I think I have 5 or 6 layouts out in hopes of getting published. I’ll keep you informed if I do. Meanwhile, I have posted a few new layouts at Two Peas. Click here to see them. I did a beach page and a Christmas page, as well as a page of my nephew and his dog. I’m not really happy with the beach page. I’m thinking about redoing it (I’m giving many of my pages away to my sis for her Christmas present, so I will have another copy to keep myself). That’s what she asked for – a scrapbook of her kids, so I am going to make one for her, not in any certain style or anything, just random layouts of them. I don’t mind, just as long as I can submit them now and as long as I have documentation of them. I may eventually make my own mini book of my photos of them. We’ll see.

I feel like things are coming together for Arianna’s shower. It will be here before we know it, but I plan on being prepared. I would love to be a party planner, but I don’t think I would like all the pricing and pickiness of people. I love throwing parties, as evident in my Halloween, Valentine’s, and Christmas soirees. I can’t wait!

A final word to the wise – Do not get the large Moolatte at Dairy Queen. It is too much. Very good at first, but then you get sick of it and feel bad for drinking it (since I’m sure it is loaded in calories). I do like the little ice chunks mixed into it. That’s the best part.
