Loretta Lynn recap

Loretta Lynn

Loretta in her new dress

Loretta with the Coal Miner's band

So, the concert at Renfro Valley was a lot of fun. Loretta is so sweet and so genuine. The show opened up with her twin daughters singing a few songs, and then she came to the stage wearing her brand new sparkly turquoise dress. It was so pretty and over the top – but perfect for her. Her family…her daughter, grandaughter, son-in-law, and brother all sang. It was kinda like a “Lynn Family Hour”. They were so funny as they interacted on stage (her daughters asked audience members if any men were interested, cause their mom needed to meet a man). Loretta would perform a little standing, then sit down and sing as well. I think where she is getting older, she is not as sprightly as she once was. The show ended with a gospel medley (with a beautiful acapella version of “How Great Thou Art with her backup singers) and of course, her hit song, “Coal Miner’s Daughter”.

I took a few more pics with my other camera, so we’ll see how those turn out. My little digi camera’s flash just doesn’t do too well in low light. I wish I had gotten a better one, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Also in the crowd was Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kresley. How random is that? I told my boss about it and he told me that Carson was big into horse racing (maybe even own a stake in something). Anyway, I thought that was kinda neat. I didn’t actually see him, but they gave him a shout out. So random…
