Click on the links below to check out cool pics I found of flickr. If you haven’t explored flickr, you totally should. You can find all kinds of flashback stuff on there and there’s everything from kitschy crafts to wardrobe remixes (people post what they wear on a daily basis and how they mix and match their clothes). Totally cool.
Pogo Ball…never had one, but always wanted one.
i did get a pogo stick for Christmas, though, one year. It was really hard too use and the spring wasn’t very flexible.
Peaches and Cream Barbie I totally had one of these, though she wasn’t the African American version. I think she still resides in a old brown suitcase at my parent’s house. Her blonde hair is pink-tinted, now, though, cause my sister Sophia used a marker on it.
Cooky from the Bozo show was Bozo’s sidekick. When I was little and in school, we arrived in the library and watched Bozo until school started (on WGN-the Chicago Station). The highlight of the show was the grand prize game. Six buckets were lined up in a row and kids would have to throw ping pong balls into them, each bucket was just a little bit harder to hit. The kids won stuff like Little Debbie Snack Cakes, action figures, and novelty toys. I always hated when a little kid (like 2 or 3) got pulled out of the audience, cause you knew that they were only going to hit the first bucket and the game would be over (sometimes they would even miss the first bucket, but Bozo would give it to them.) The big prize if you got the 6th bucket was a bike or trip to Disney World. Anyway, good times. I’ve tried youtubing it, but to no avail. I actually saw the props for this show (including the grand prize game buckets) at the Broadcasting muesuem in Chicago. Pretty cool.
Garbage Pail Kids were really popular when I was in third grade. I bought some, but promptly had to give them away to this kid Erik in my class that collected them. Of course, my mom was the one who made me do this. She found them distasteful. I think they are pretty funny. Gross, but funny. And I think I turned out ok, though a wee bit weird. I don’t think they damaged me all that much.
