I had a great weekend. Lots of good friends, good food, and good times. I went to one of my favorite places on Saturday – Lynn’s Paradise Cafe. If you ever go to Louisville, this a place you must stop if you are looking for some kitsch and flavor. I think people usually don’t think of Kentucky as a cool place – there is more here than the stereotypical barefoot and pregnant women. In fact, there’s a lot of neat people and places all over this state, and this place, for sure, is one of them.
What’s so neat about this place is the quirky décor, from the tacky lamps to the toy animals that reside on the checkerboard tables. There’s colorful paper lanterns, flags, colorful lights, and lots of sunlight that makes this place so special. And the food is good too! I ordered the Crunchcakes, one of my favorites, but they have all kinds of different specialties, from fried green tomatoes to sweet potato fries to vegetarian offerings.
Right around the corner from Lynn’s is my favorite little gift shop, Regalo. It’s filled to the brim with all kinds of really fun, quirky stuff. Also, it has some really cool handmade jewelry and home décor items that are very modern and fun. I found this little lamp made out of dolls to be quite fun…
They had these in garland and ornaments too. So cute.
Also while there I found some other awesome stuff like ice cube trays shaped into gemstones and hand tattoos to make your own reminder lists. I know a lof of their stuff comes from Fred, a company that has super innovative and kitschy gifts. Also, they have a lot of Blue Q products and I can never get enough of those.
I did go to my friends wedding as well this weekend and it was beautiful. It was outside next to the Ohio river and the cicada’s almost stole the show. They were in great abundance. My friend Melissa, the bride, even had to shoo one off of her husband. It made for a great photo, which of course I captured. Since she’s a very private person I won’t be sharing them here; however. The night was capped off by a bluegrass band and that was cool…that and the guys and gals in traditional German-ware…her husband is from Germany and his friends flew over for the events. It was a nice slice of culture at their wedding.
Today, some more photo taking (for a friend who is updating her dating profile site) and a trip to Breadworks, where I got a cinnamon roll about as big as my head and sticky too! Came back home and enjoyed the afternoon just chillin’, cleanin’ and nap takin’. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be out in the humidity and heat. That doesn’t sound like a good time to me. I’m a air conditioner girl.
This post took a lot longer than I would have liked. I think something is seriously up with computer and I need to defrag it or something. My internet and the whole processing of it is going soooooo slow. Gotta check into that!
Until next time, Swellions.

That sounds like a really great weekend. : )
I LOVE the doll light! I saw one in a shop in Salem, Mass and have been dreaming about it. I kept thinking “is it a fire hazard” and talked myself out of it and have regretted it ever since. So glad to see those little dolls again.
