Designs of my past

In my graphic design life, I design a lot of stuff. Most of the time, I will whip up a project and then it never sees the light of day again. I was perusing through some of these projects and thought I’d share some of them with you. Some of these projects were used, others were just mere ideas that never came to be anything. But one thing is for sure, they all came from my little ol’ very random brain. Here’s asampling of some of some of these projects..

Here’s a little design for Creative Techniques magazine I made that was never used. The magazine isn’t with us anymore, but I worked on a lot of random ideas and projects for it at one time. This is my friend Molly. Her last name isn’t Carter, but she was a perfect subject for this little faux invite, cause she’s super cute and photogenic…I seem to do a lot of projects with her in it it as you will see below!

This illustration I did for a former co-worker who was leaving. I guess this is my more fine art side coming through in this one.

I created this as an invite for my friend’s party, but it never was used or printed. These are my favorite colors.

OK, I must do a lot of invites or something! Here’s one for a jewelry show I hosted like 4 years ago.

And here’s a CD cover I designed. Psssttt…don’t tell anyone, but I used an old Lita Ford’s album cover as the inspiration for my body.

And lastly, you know those photo cakes people do? I made this design for Molly for her b-day like 5 years ago. Of course, if you didn’t already know, I was inspired by Andy Warhol. She got a big kick out of it!

It’s nice to look back at these things every now and then. Fortunately, they aren’t as painful as looking at old diary entries (those make me cringe).

Until next time Swellions!

Aw thanks Melissa! I love bright colors if you couldn’t already tell!

Val: For the cartoons, I use both Photoshop and Illustrator. I should share sometime how this is done. It’s a little bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it…not too hard. I use Photoshop for a LOT of my personal and professional projects.

How fun! You’re a great illustrator. I love love love that CD cover. Please make a Christmas card of that and send to me!! ha. No, I think I want a poster of it!

I need to dig around for some old Christmas CD cover designs. I usually give a CD to friends and teachers. It’s so easy for me and they all freak out… OMG!!! YOU DID THIS?? It’s weird to me that other people can’t draw. I forget that it’s not a normal thing for everyone.
