A tough week ahead

grandmother 1

My grandmother passed away yesterday and I’m returning home from California to Kentucky this week for the funeral. It’s going to be a tough week for me. I was my grandmother’s baby, so it’s going to be hard for me and the rest of my family, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

I thought I would blog about her this week (I’m actually going to post several tonight that will show up throughout the week). My blog tends to not be too emotional or personal, but I want to pay tribute to her. She was a constant in my life for 30 years and loved me unconditionally.

The photo above is from when she was 18 years old. Her name was Opal (I’ve always loved this name), I’m sure you would have guessed that by the signature. She gave me this photo, and another one I’ll share tomorrow. I love these hand tinted photos. I don’t know that many places still do this, but it is very much a treasure to me. She was a very beautiful woman with a big heart. I’m going to miss her very much.

Until next time Swellions.

Alexa, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have lost both my grandmothers. One, when I was still a child, and another, when I was a grown woman. I still miss them today.

May you find strength in her memory.

    Saludos,
    Yoli
