Tonight by watching Mad Men, I made caramel apples. I always wish I could make picture perfect ones, but for some reason, mine always turn out with the caramel and clumps of the candy/nuts on the bottom. Does anyone have a solution to this? This is my second attempt at making caramel apples and both times they’ve ended up clumpy 🙁 Anyway, the photos turned out cute, so it wasn’t a total wash and I’m sure they are still pretty yummy to eat. OMG caramel apples are one of my favorite foods in the world! I want one!
I’ve never made caramel apples before, but I’ll venture a guess. Is the caramel still somewhat warm when you put the toppings on? It seems that if it’s still runny, then of course the toppings would run down.
Maybe if you let the caramel set for a little bit, and then sprinkle on the toppings?
