Watercolor Pencil Love

Rainbow

I finally used up the $50 Amazon Gift Card my mom and dad sent me for my b-day. I bought three things: A straightening iron, a paper shredder, and some Derwent Watercolor Pencils. Truthfully, the watercolor pencils was what I was most excited about!

I got them out tonight and played! Now, I will admit, I am going to have to practice a bit with them. I love the light flowy look of watercolor, but admittedly, I have always had a heavy hand while painting. The colors turn out more saturated and deeper than I would like. I would like to master a lighter, more fluid look with watercolors. We’ll see what happens. Anyway, here’s some of the designs I worked on.

Shapes
Admittedly, I’ve never been able to draw from my mind, that’s why I always do shapes. If I have a pic to go by, I do well, but shapes are always just fun and easy to do.

Triangles

I was doing two sets cause I’d eventually like to make earrings out of some of my doodles. I may laminate or even put a glaze/resin on top. Stay tuned!

Tools of the trade
And here’s the tools of my trade.

Do you have any tips/advice for me? I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have.

Oh, and are you as sick about the Charlie Sheen thing as I am? Ugh.

Until next time Swellions!
