I have been seeing some really cool glittered Starbuck’s tumblers online (like this one from Fitnessista) and I’ve been wanting to give it a try. Being the colorholic that I am, I couldn’t commit to just one color of glitter, so I chose 5 or 6 for my version. This turned out being very much like my Glitter Galaxy Ornaments from Christmastime, but sometimes a dog just doesn’t want to learn a new trick, gosh darn it! Haha. Here’s how you make this fun and easy 10 minute project!
Gather your supplies. You’ll need a double-walled plastic coffee mug that unscrews apart (You can purchase one here), a great spray adhesive like AAleene’s Crystal Clear Acid-Free Tacky Spray and some glitters! I used some from my Tulip Fashion Glitter stash!
Unscrew the lid. It took me a little elbow grease.
Pull the inner cup (the black part) out and set aside. Remove the paper from the remaining clear cup.
Shake the Tacky Spray well. Now give a couple even sprays inside. Don’t overspray if you can help it. If you spray too much, you’ll build up glue layers that fog inside the mug.
Take your first cover and swirl around in your mug. Shake out excess on a sheet of paper to save and put back in the bottle.
Eventually your mug will be coated in layers of glitter. It appears my mug should look orange from the outside, but the orange was my final layer and filled in a few of the last spots of the tumbler.
If at any point, your glitter isn’t sticking to the side, just add another quick dash of spray.
And there you have it! A glittery tumbler perfect for my cup of joe! I recommend that you handwash and dry the tumbler, making sure to remove the inner black cup and washing it off thoroughly before reuse.
What color of glitter do you think you’d like to try?
Until next time Swellions!
