Channeling my inner Not so Swell for good

Not so Swell 4

Today I had the case of the Mondays, but it was a Wednesday. Eh, I guess it is one part hormones plus one part personal conflict and stress. It’s not that any one certain thing has gotten me down…it’s more that sometimes it hits all at a time…stress, insecurities, the monthly gift…you know the drill.

So, I could have just curled up in the fetal position, gotten out a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and had a poor lil’ me pity party, but instead I turned it into a creative exercise! I’m sure you’ve always heard that musicians make their best music during a break up and that fine artists turn their emotions onto canvas. I did the same tonight with my camera! I took photos for like an hour tonight…just me, the mirror, and the emotion. I think being introspective and just being true to yourself is when you get to the good stuff. So, you may not be a photographer, but you may write poetry, craft shrines, or do journaling or scrapbooking. Don’t let the tough times get you so down that it immobilizes you. Channel it instead. I really think art has a powerful way of turning frowns upside down (ok, I know that is cheesy, but it’s true) and you can get at your best stuff or into a creative thinking process that you may have missed out on if you had decided to just be another bump on the log!

Using iPhoto (I still haven’t gotten around to loading Photoshop on my new machine)…I played around with my images and made them even moodier. I really like how they turned out and I think they do portray my emotion quite well.

Honestly, I am a “Swell Designer” 95% of the time. It’s that other 5% that I wanted to share with you that I don’t usually share here on my blog. It’s just how I’m feeling tonight and like I said, for not any one particular reason. I don’t want you guys to worry about me. If you are anything like me, having a case of the blues is just another facet to being an creative person!

Until next time Swellions!
