More art, less craft

art

I don’t do it very often, but sometimes I’m more in an artsy mood than a crafty one. Some people really ponder and get emotionally heated over what, if any, is different between art and craft. For me, the difference in what I see as fine art and what I see as crafty is the emotional intent when I am creating. When I’m feeling like I want to set a tone or thought provoking question in an image or project, I feel like this is the fine artist in me coming out. My crafts are more about making and having fun.

So, I thought I’d share with you that other more mood-driven side of me where I wanted to capture a feeling and explore composition, color, and emotion. I think you will see that these examples are quite different than the crafts that I make. My art is more photography-driven most time mixed with my graphic design skills. I’m not so much into drawing these days or other forms of mark making. I guess the digital image is where I feel most comfortable expressing myself artistically.

So I present these without note so you can form your own interpretation. Half the time I don’t even know what I’m going for, I think the power of art is in the interpretation anyway.
