Halloween buttons, Twee Boutique, and Good News!

Halloween buttons for Twee

Look at these cute new buttons I made for Twee Boutique in the Fresno Tower District! I used part of the Martha Stewart stickers I bought at Michaels. I mounted them on cute polka dot scrapbook paper. I think they turned out super cute. I love them! I’m also taking a few other Halloweeny items like cute ribbon fascinator pins and hairclips and a couple of button rings.

In other button news, I created 5 new designs for my Fresno buttons that will be available at the store on Friday! Also, Mike Oz featured my designs this past on the Fresno Beehive. Cool, huh?

And more icing on the cake…I won Picture Fresno this past week for my picture I took of the Security Bank in a reflection at Fulton Mall. I won a trip to Come and Get It Chicken and Waffles at the end of Fulton Mall. I’m so excited!

Until next time Swellions!

Let’s hear it for lasagna and weekends!

You’ll get the title if you read on. In the meantime, check out the cute decorations I scored for 10¢ each this past weekend at an estate sale!

On another Halloween note, check out the pumpkins grew for me. I picked out the seeds several months back. Yeah, he has a green thumb!

I made new Fresno buttons. I guess they don’t make sense to people who live here, but locals appreciate them. The Bubba, Oz, and Zara ones are local celebrity buttons and the Madera one is for Fresno’s nearby city/subarb.

I enjoyed polishing my nails and sitting by the koi pond at William’s house.

Back to the estate sale. The lady was super crafty and had tons of needlepoint supplies, ribbon, books, and patterns. I also found her paint stash. Inside was wom vintage Tulip® packaging from my work (iLoveToCreate). Love the kitsch of old packaging!

Here’s a tray I bought too!

Here’s something I didn’t buy but rings oh so true to me! I figured it would just add to the clutter of my desk!

Here’s a pennant I bought for my friend Silvia. I hope she likes it! I think she will 🙂

I also spent time with my little poodle friend, Frankie. Here’s a video of him, just to show you what a beast he truly is!
If you can’t see it, try viewing it here.

Until next time Swellions!

Around Fresno

Yesterday I took a whole bunch of Fresno photos. Some weren’t in the best parts of town…ha, I didn’t even get out of my car for a couple of the hotel signs, but I’m glad I took them. I LOVE vintage signs. You probably already knew that. There are a lot of great signs around town. It’s sad that a lot of the places that accompany those signs are rundown.

I just wanted to share a few of my fun Fresno photos….

I did have an agenda for taking my photos, I used them for my buttons. My buttons have been going over really well. They’ve sold like 300 at Twee! YAY! They even gave the mayor some and she called to tell Melanie and Patty, my friends and owners of Twee, how much she loved them!

Have a great Wednesday!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend, I was pretty busy making buttons and visiting William in Modesto.

I finished up a lot of new Fresno buttons and delivered them to Twee on Saturday afternoon.

I then went to Modesto and visited William. We went rock climbing yesterday and it totally kicked my butt! I am so not in shape to do it. It takes a lot of full body strength. My arms are soooo weak…I’ve never had a lot of upper body strength, I remember never being able to do the monkey bars!

Today we went to a flower show by the Camelia Society of Modesto. It was held on the grounds of the Gallo Winery. Gallo owns a huge chunk of Modesto and has beautiful grounds and architecture. They opened up their main offices. Here’s the main floor with all the flowers.

Here’s a couple bloom photos I shot:

I also got to see some old vintage ads that they had on display. I heart them!

On the grounds were birds and peacocks…

This parrot was so sweet. He was outside at the Gallo Winery. I think he’s normally kept inside. Anyway, I talked to him, and he put out his little talon for me to pet. Then I was able to put my finger in and give him a little massage around his neck. I actually think he/she really liked me. Such a sweet birdie and pretty too!!!

I later took some photos of William with Frankie.

Aren’t they cute? Here’s me with Frankie. He is the cutest little poodle!! He acts like he’s hot stuff.

Some of my many buttons

Bowl o' Buttons

This weekend, I was very busy working on buttons!!! My boy William (yes, I have a boyfriend now) and I cut and made them using my button maker. Yippee!!!

I made some kitschy ones and also some ones just with Fresno sayings. I plan to sell them locally at Twee, my friend Pattie and Melanie’s store in the Tower District!

What I like about making these is that once you have the machine and the button backs, it takes like no time to make a handful of buttons. I’m all about the quick and easy craft and the result is so polished and perfect that I get really excited (have I mentioned I’m kinda messy crafter/rough around the edges??). I like that I succeeded at creating something so cool. I got a fishbowl today so people can fish through them. I love being able to fish through a bowlful of buttons or beads! There’s something very cool and tangible about discovering a design that is totally you!

Anyway, here are some more or my buttons. As I mentioned before, I created them using loteria wrapping paper.
