Some random stuff in my world

Making bread cause I was craving it (it’s pumpkin and a mix, I don’t lie).

Bought some Christmas gifts tonight. I am getting my niece some beading tools, while I’m getting both my nephews some cool football ornaments for their new Christmas trees in their rooms! I still have a few more things to get for the little munchkins!

Oh, I met a new guy named Brian at the WRFL station who picked up my little shopping cart I was giving away on my blog a week or so ago. He colored me a picture as a thank you. I thought that was pretty swell. My radio gig went well. I had fun chatting it up with Mick! I tried to play off of his little quips. I wasn’t nervous at all!

I’ve been meaning to share this great find that I got at Street Scene a few months back. Check it out…it’s an interchangeable purse from the 80’s. Totally cool. I really need to start losing it. I love how the one has an owl with H.H.H. on it. It instantly reminded me of Homer Hillis at HHH Enterprises! It came with like 10 changeable color bag attachments.

I’m still diligently beading away for the holidays and Tasha and Marty’s wedding. Finishing up on the bridesmaid jewelry that we are going to wear 🙂
I make such a mess! Beads and tools everywhere!

Hope everyone is having a great end to their work week! Until next time Swellions!

P.S. Why do I always spell niece wrong? You would think I would know by now how to spell it, but it’s always wrong! Some things I guess you never learn! Maybe now that I’ve done this “Very special P.S. message”, I will remember!

An awesome site (and book) you have to check out

I’ve got some really cool projects up my sleeve, one of which involving the use of these:
our glass pendants

They are really cool Our Glass Frame Pendants from HHH Enterprises. These little pendants (or rather, I should say big pendants) were one of the few things that truly caught my eye at the CHA show last February. I had a great conversation with the owner, Homer, and we’ve remained e-mail buddies ever since. Homer is a first-class guy and really seeks out unique products…just check out the site for all kinds of cool stuff…everything from a wide variety of colorful turquoise (it makes me drool a little bit) to fancy belt buckle blanks to bright findings! It’s all there on this site.

One of the reasons that Homer’s stuff stood out to me is that it is large and in charge, unlike anything out in the marketplace, and it is so easy to customize. For example, the Our Glass Frame Pendants (one of their signature products) come both single paned and hinged, allowing all kinds of possibilities. I’ve been thinking up some myself for the Halloween that I will be presenting on my blog in the next few weeks. I can think of a lot of quick Photoshop effects do to my photos and then slide into these frames! Homer was kind enough to send me the new Our Glass Jewels Book and it opened me up to even more things to do with these pendants.

Our Glass Jewels Book

The designers, Ronda hillis and Rebecca Hull have come up with some super trendy and clever designs that are so inspiring. I love the idea that they mix their custom transparencies and rubons with Swarovski crystals for a very elegant, original look. I often struggle with coming up with involved altered images (I also don’t have the patience to figure out the process), but there are ideas in this book for getting that look easily using their products (and their products are all so reasonably priced, esp. since so many of us are watching our pennies!). Another of my favorite projects in this book utilizes magnets, so that you can easily switch out these awesome crystal buttons. They remind me of costume jewelry, don’t they you? So.much.fun.

Definitely, definitely head over to the HHH Enterprises site and check out all they have to offer! Oh, and there are always great shipping deals to be had, so you don’t have to worry about expensive shipping costs…it’s a super great perk.

Until next time Swellions. Happy crafting!

5 things that I’m doing right now

5 things I’m doing right now (or just did, actually):

1) Trying to come up with a reversible design to use on my Our Glass pendant from HHH enterprises. Going to do something cool with it so stay tuned.

2) Listening to My Life on the D List playing in the other room. I like this show, but I think it would be better if it were a half hour. One hour is just too much to digest. Actually I’ve watched Bravo all night tonight. Got my Project Runway and Shear Genius fix that I missed out on last night.

3) Thinking of ways to get my cat to try out her new spinning ball cat toy. Shes not acting interested, but she needs to be…otherwise $7 bucks down the drain.

4) Organized my bead stash. I’m trying to come up with a new system in plastic baggies and those photo boxes (going to use a thick cardboard to divide up the boxes by sections). We’ll see if my plan works. I’m so sick of those plastic dividers turning over and I’d like to find a beading system that actually works for me.

5) Contemplating that I may just need to purge some of my crap. I really need to take another load of clothes to Goodwill and get rid of craft supplies I never ever use. I just keep getting more and more and nothing is given away/tossed to make room. Man, I really wish I had my own place that I owned so that I could get better organized and paint, etc. A place where I was more settled and could actually have a plan to organize or utilize stuff in my decor. Oh well.

Can’t wait for tomorrow! I really think I’m not going to be posting much on weekends anymore. Mainly because I need a break and blogging is, as much as I hate to see it this way, an obligation of mine. I think taking a breather on weekends (not that many people visit the site those days anyway) will be good for me. But you can always check back here throughout the week for new content. Also, I may post if the fancy strikes me. I just want to enjoy my weekends and social activities more and not be stuck to a computer. I gotta get out.

Oh, and here’s Margot’s new video all about Summer CHA. It gives you a little look into some of the crafty rock star designers that were there and the crazy demos and book signings that ensue.

Until next time Swellions!
