My Swell Life in iPhone Photos

Curled my hair for a wedding. Rockin’ the same Revlon curlers since 1992 baby!

Framed
I made this doodle starburst frame from a plain mat. Thought Pixie fit it well.

Got my nails did
Splurged on myself and got my toenails did.

Cherries
Someone brought in cherries for lunch! YAY! It’s cherry season in the Central Valley!

Scott
My friend Scott plays coy at our Wild and Wacky Pizza Night (Wednesday night). It’s kinda me, him, and Pattie’s thang! We love BC’s Pizza in Clovis. And we love Nicole our waitress who always makes us laugh. She’s probably one of the funniest people I know!

Came home to find this castle bounce house in the apartment yard. Kids really do have it made these days!

Calypso tumblers
And I’m kinda crushin’ on these foil tumblers from Target. They are a part of their summer Calypso line. LOVE!

Until next time Swellions!

Out with the old, in with the new, but in the meantime…

iphone dead

So my iPhone died on Friday night. I went to recharge it and when I returned, it was just stuck on the apple screen. Major BOO! I tried to recharge, restart, everything. Then I took it in on Saturday to the AT&T store, and the guy said it was dead and that I could fix it, but I could also upgrade to the new iPhone 4. I’ve wanted the new iPhone since it came out, but I guess it is good I waited since they went ahead and let me upgrade now. I’m super excited about the multi-layer functions, the better camera, and the video access. YAY! It will be great to have that all on my phone The thing is that they didn’t have any available and I have to wait about 2 weeks to get it. So, in the meantime, this is what I’m using…

this old thing

It’s my very first phone from like 7 years ago. No bells and whistles at all. I could find the cord and the charger for it, but not my second phone. Yikes. I was talking on it several times tonight, and even though it was charged, it turned off while I was talking. I don’t know why. I’m going to have to search more for that other cord, but I think I may have given it away to Goodwill. Whoops.

So, I’ll be disconnected for a couple of weeks. Just being disconnected from my smart phone has made me kinda realize how I’m constantly connected to it. I realize that’s part of the reason I get stressed out about talking on the phone as of late. I’m immersed in the phone (checking e-mails and sites) and online so much, that I don’t want to have anything to do with it when I get home. That’s so not good.

WEll, anyway, hope you guys are having a great week!

Until next time Swellions!

Fun with Swankolab

I got another cool new app called Swankolab by the makers of Hipstamatic! I have been having a lot of fun with it. It does a lot of fun photo effects and simulates a darkroom. Visit the web site…it really is a hoot! The sound effects especially. Here’s some fun artsy photos I shot with my phone and process using the app that I wanted to share…

Check out my cool Hipstamatic pics :)

Hey guys! Sorry for being M.I.A. over the past couple of days. I guess I was tired and just needed my rest (I crashed at 10:30 both nights).

Anyway, I just wanted to share some fun photos that I’ve taken with my Hipstamatic app for my iPhone! Hands down, this is my most favorite app that I’ve ever purchased. It gives the look of old vintage camera effects and you can purchase different lenses, film, and flashes (each add on is 99ยข). Anyway, it’s just so fun and you get such artsy effects without really trying at all!

Hot Dog on a Stick
Here’s a photo I took tonight while walking past Hot Dog on A Stick. The colors of the lemonade caught my eye and I knew it would make for a great photo!

The Sky
Here’s a moody photo of the sky. It looks so haunting!

Abstract cup
Here’s a cool one I took while at the stop light (I know, I know…shame, shame). Anyway, I shot this through a plastic cup for this cool abstract effect.

Here’s one adorable poodle…Mr. Frankie! It kinda looks like he’s missing an eye!

Standstill
And I can’t show Frankie’s cuteness without showing Pixie’s too!

Big wheel keeps on turnin'
I went to a carnival last week and shot this one…

Tickets
I really like this one too. A kid was running away, thus the shadow you see in the middle.

For those interested in downloading it, their web site pretty much sums it up. I think part of the reason I like this app so much is because they really devoted a lot of time into making it authentic and all the design and description details are so campy and cool. It really does feel like you’re using an old analog camera.

Hope you have a great Friday! Until next time Swellions!

Swell gets technologically savvy

swell gets savvy

I have officially entered the 21st century! I got the new iphone. I’ve been wanting one for quite a while, but I was waiting for the 3G version and then for the buzz of the latest one to die down. It’s crazy, but I finally have one in my own hands!

I am not really one to stay up on the latest and greatest technological trends. I’m kinda lazy, actually. For the most part, I have what I need and am content with it. It’s when something goes wrong with an electronic that I seek out the newest thing. I currently am actually in need of a new stereo (my Sony from 1997 is not playing cds anymore and is very temperamental). If I update it, I guess I will need to get a cd/mp3 player, huh? Ugh, I just don’t know. It’s not a pressing concern.

I haven’t had an ipod up until this point either, so I really am a kid in a candy shop. I’m going to transfer my music over at some point…perhaps later this week. I also don’t know how I will do using the itunes store. I don’t want to get too addicted and spend tons of money. I could see how that could easily happen with all the fun little apps, music, and videos out there for download.

It’s crazy how far technology really has come. I’m sure it’s going to advance even more, but I just remember moments in my life when I was amazed by far less sophisticated stuff….like in 7th grade when my parents got a new Gateway computer and I did research on Encarta and drew stuff using MSPaint. Also, I was amazed at an even younger age by Printshop and the banners I could do on a dot matrix printer. In college, e-mail ruled the world and having your own account meant you could send as many forwards (I remember when they were actually “cool” to send) and e-cards that my heart desired.

I just hope that my iphone makes me even nuttier about the internet than I already am (I’m afraid it is going to). It’s so amazing that I can check my flickr and the latest celebrity gossip while in the car or standing in line. Who would have ever thought?

Well, gotta get to bed. Until tomorrow Swellions!
